Pakistan Fuel Updates tracks petrol and diesel prices, price history, pricing reforms and the fuel-relief measures that affected consumers in 2026. The relief picture is now clearer than it was during the March consultation stage: official Finance Division reporting says targeted support was subsequently delivered to selected groups, while the government also used price-differential cushioning and stabilization tools.

Current fuel relief methods: September 2026 view

Pakistan's fuel relief is not one universal subsidy. The current official record shows several methods operating at different levels:

  • Targeted digital support for selected groups including two-wheelers, public-transport users and small farmers; the Economic Survey also records freight-vehicle support.
  • Price Differential Claims funded through the Prime Minister's Austerity Fund during the March oil-price shock.
  • Petroleum price stabilization through the Petroleum Prices Stabilization Fund and rules-based shock-intervention proposals.
  • PAVE electric-mobility cost sharing for eligible electric-bike and e-rickshaw/loader users, reducing future petrol or diesel dependence.

Use the Pakistan Fuel Relief Methods Tracker 2026 for a status-focused breakdown.

Latest verified petrol and diesel reference

The latest official PSO rates verified during this September 14, 2026 update are Rs 370.80 per litre for petrol and Rs 398.04 per litre for high-speed diesel, effective September 11, 2026. These are dated reference figures, not permanent 'today' prices.

See the verified petrol rate, the verified HSD rate, or use the official price-source directory for newer figures.

Price history matters under daily pricing

September 2026 demonstrates how quickly rates can move. PSO's archive shows petrol at Rs 342.79/L and HSD at Rs 370.41/L on September 1, rising to Rs 370.80/L and Rs 398.04/L by September 11.

The September 2026 fuel price history lists the dated official PSO entries.

How prices are calculated

Pakistan's pump price can reflect international product benchmarks, the rupee-dollar exchange rate, freight equalization, approved margins, levies and other policy components. OGRA's daily Platts data gives public visibility into an important benchmark used in the process.

Daily petroleum pricing reform

During 2026 the Petroleum Division moved the pricing framework toward daily, market-linked publication. More frequent pass-through makes effective dates critical and increases the importance of consumer-protection rules when global prices move sharply.

See Pakistan's daily petroleum pricing reform.

OGRA data and official notifications

OGRA publishes notified-price material, price buildup information, IFEM records and daily Platts data. Petroleum Division publishes government petroleum-price notices, while PSO provides current rates and historical POL archives.

The OGRA fuel notifications guide explains which source is best for each type of check.

Petroleum levy

The petroleum levy is a fiscal component separate from the international product cost. Its applicable rate can change through legislation and notifications, so one old levy number should never be treated as permanent.

Petrol deregulation target

On September 3, 2026, the Petroleum Pricing Committee described June 2027 as a likely target for petrol deregulation. That is a future policy target, not completed deregulation. The same committee emphasized transparency, predictability and consumer protection from undue volatility.

See what the June 2027 target means.
